Matthew 2:1-2 (MEV)

The Visit of the Wise Men
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who was born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

By the Time of Jesus’ Birth

The hearts of devout Jews cherished a holy expectancy. Like Simeon, some were looking for the “consolation” of Israel and the redemption of Jerusalem (Luke 2:25, 38; 23:51). The Spirit began once again to prophesy about the coming of the Messiah through some of those godly people, such as Elizabeth (Luke 1:41–45), Zechariah (vv. 64–79), Simeon (Lk 2:25–35) and Anna the prophetess (vv. 36–38). The Virgin Mary too burst forth in prophetic praise to God her Savior (Luke 1:46–55). {eoa}
