3 Things You Should Know About Angels
One cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of Hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory (Is. 6:3).
For many of us, angels are a fascinating topic. However, many people have misconceptions about them and their purpose. In Katie Souza’s recent teaching on angels, she dives in deep to provide key pieces of information on what you need to know about these heavenly hosts.

- Angels were created by God.
“Ezra said that,” Souza notes, “He said, ‘you alone God made the heavens and the earth. You’ve made all the host of heaven.’ That word ‘host’ means the starry skies, but it also means the angels. God created the host of heaven.”
God created the angels, and they are servants of the Lord.
“His angels are His servants who carry out His will concerning every part of creation,” Souza says.
Psalm 103:20 tells us that the angels “do His commands” and “obey the voice of His word.”
“God’s angels are His servants who hearken to His commands, and since He’s the ruler over all creation, that means that they are assisting Him, serving Him, carrying out His will, His precepts, His commandments throughout all creation,” Souza says.
- Angels are spirit beings.
Souza points out that Hebrews 1:7 calls out angels as beings of the spirit. This verse reads in the MEV, “Of the angels He says: ‘He makes His angels spirits, and His servants a flame of fire.’”
“That means they can go anywhere, be anywhere, they can travel to a place to help you wherever you’re at, they can be in the spirit, they can be in heaven; they’re spirit beings,” Souza says.
Since angels are beings of the spirit, they are not confined to the same kinds of natural barriers that we are.

- Angels are meant to help us and protect us.
“Angels are assigned to help and protect us as born again believers, but even before we are saved,” Souza says. “Many times, angels are assigned to us before we even reach and receive salvation so that the angels can protect us…Hebrews 1:14 says, ‘are not the angels all ministering spirits? Servants sent out in the service of God for the assistance of those who are to inherit salvation.’”
As Souza describes, this means that those we are praying for who will someday be saved through Christ have an angel looking out for them, protecting them for that future salvation.
