Stephen Strang: Why We Must Stand Against Cancel Culture and for the Truth
We’ve all heard the saying that history repeats itself. And as we stand in this new era for the United States, we may think Christians have never faced the types of attacks we see from all sides today.
Yet when we consider history, we realize there were many times when people made efforts to snuff out Christianity. From the Roman persecution of the early church to the tumultuous Middle Ages to the days when our Puritan and Pilgrim forefathers sought religious freedom, we know the church has long prevailed against its foes. And just as those early believers stood firm, we too can stand on the truth that no matter what happens, the Lord loves His children and promises to work all things together for good.
Yes, many of us were disappointed in the election results and what I believe was the pervasive election fraud, but the attacks I’m referring to extend far beyond the presidency. As someone whose life’s work has revolved around reporting on what God is doing in our culture, particularly from the charismatic and Pentecostal angle, I’ve witnessed the rise of a widespread disrespect for Christian beliefs and values.
Mike Bickle Sends Prophetic Warning, Encouragement to God’s Faithful
If you have been confused and find yourself living in fear as the result of recent events in society and culture, IHOPKC’s Mike Bickle has an encouraging prophetic word for you from the book of Psalms. It’s God’s answer to the COVID-19 pandemic, racial unrest, political upheaval and other external factors that are sending the church into a frenzy.
“It’s the clearest prophecy for today that I’ve come across,” Bickle says. “It’s from Psalm 2, and it is broken up into four parts. The first part is about today’s rulers and kings, and it says, ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His anointed, saying, “let us tear off their bonds and cast away their ropes from us.”‘
“What this means is that the kings and rulers are shaking their fists at God. The second part tells us that God is not intimidated by anything they are saying and doing. He’s saying, ‘You can’t move me; I’m going to speak to you directly as judgment.’ The Scripture says, ‘He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord ridicules them. Then He will speak to them in His wrath and terrify them with His burning anger; I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill.’
Poll: Trump Impeachment Trial Will Bring Further Division, Most Americans Say
Although the Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald J. Trump is set to begin the week of Feb. 8, more than half of Americans believe it will bring further division to an already fragmented nation, according to results of a survey by Rasmussen Reports.
The national telephone and online survey revealed that voters, by a 3 to 1 margin, expect the upcoming trial of the nation’s former president to leave the country more divided than unified, says a report of the research in the New York Post.
Only 19% of those polled said the trial would help unify Americans, while 20% said it would make no difference. And half of those questioned also said that the Senate should not vote to convict Trump of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” while 45% say Trump should be convicted. {eoa}
