Nurses, Doctors Pray on Hospital Rooftops for COVID-19 Patients

Sarah Kremer and some fellow nurses at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville recently prayed on the hospital’s rooftop regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Good Morning America. They said it’s the first time they’ve prayed together, and Kremer reportedly said she felt compelled to pray due to all the fear and anxiety she and her coworkers are feeling.

“We prayed over the staff in our unit as well as all of the hospital employees. We also prayed over the patients and their families during this trying time. We also prayed for all of our colleagues around the world taking care of patients. It felt good to do this with some of my amazing co-workers. We could feel God’s presence in the wind. Know that you are all covered in prayer,” Gleaves wrote on Facebook on March 30.

CBS News also reported that health care workers at Jackson Health System in Miami and Cartersville Hospital in Georgia shared moments from their rooftop prayer sessions.

Danny Rodriguez, an ER tech at Jackson South Medical Center, told Fox News, “Our team said a prayer, asking God for guidance and protection while we are at work, and to keep us and our families safe.”

Many nurses are sharing the fear that COVID-19 has especially thrust upon them—Sydni Lane, a nurse from Iowa, wrote on Instagram, “I broke down and cried today. I cried of exhaustion, of defeat. Because after 4 years of being an ER nurse, I suddenly feel like I know nothing.”
