A Christian pastor and former Muslim plans to share his testimony on Sept. 11-12 at Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church in Michigan, according to The Truth In Love Project’s Events page. Pastor Shahram Hadian also plans to give Christians tips on sharing the gospel with Muslims and discuss Islam’s “false” belief on salvation.

This has not been received well by state Reps. Abdullah Hammoud , D-Dearborn, and Mari Manoogian, D-Birmingham, per the Press & Guide. The representatives released the following statement:

“Our communities should be outraged by these scheduled toxic and bigoted events. With the rise of mass shootings by white domestic terrorists targeting those they deem ‘other,’ we are deeply disturbed that a place of worship would host an event that continues to fan the flames of hate and intolerance.

“Religious institutions should strive to be welcoming centers for all. We strongly encourage Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church to reconsider hosting these events and instead seek opportunities to foster a positive dialogue within the community.”

Michigan’s U.S. Reps. Debbie Dingell and Andy Levin, both Democrats, also stated that the event conveys a message of “hate,” reported MLive.

“Islam is a growing threat in the United States of America,” Dr. Donald McKay, head minister at Bloomfield, told FOX 2 News. “We don’t hate Muslims, we hate the ideology they are identified with … I am an Islamophobe; I wear that badge proudly.”

The Metropolitan Detroit Freedom Coalition helped plan the theme, FOX 2 News reported. The event title is “How the Interfaith Movement is Sabotaging America and the Church.” The flier for this upcoming free event is available here.
