‘Truly a Miracle’: 2-Year-Old Rescued After Terrifying Crash
Megan Newman says it’s a miracle her 2-year-old daughter survived after their van rolled down a steep hill.
A Duluth Police Facebook page indicates that an off-duty officer rescued the little girl after the van rolled into busy traffic, struck a vehicle and lodged itself in trees on the hillside.
“The van was partially suspended in the trees above the ground,” Police Chief Mike Tusken writes.
Newman tells the Star Tribune that her daughter, Bella, is “doing well. She came out with barely a scratch on her. It’s truly a miracle.”
The accident occurred when Newman parked her car and put on the emergency brake outside her home, which is on a steep hill.
“When my neighbor yelled, ‘Your car is rolling down the hill!’ I felt my heart just stop,” Newman writes on a GoFundMe page. “It didn’t feel real. I bolted down the hill as fast as I could to get my baby who was in the car unbuckled and I was waiting anxiously for them to get her out! She was miraculously OK! God was watching over everyone on July 11.”
