What School Shootings Say About the Spiritual State of This Generation

Share:

The recent tragic and hateful confrontation witnessed in the Denver shooting is the tip of a larger problem getting ready to explode in this nation. As Christians, we are witnessing the erosion of traditional values and the rise of an intensely emotional and immoral generation, bent on usurping anything and anyone that will oppose their rebellious lifestyle.

Christian parents and people of faith have a huge responsibility of teaching their children with open and meaningful discussions about bullying, gender identity issues and the meaning of the transgender phenomenon. They must learn how to avoid confrontations, discussions or bullying, even if they feel motivated to do so. Our children must learn and understand why we must love the person and hate their sin.

Parents also need to teach their children about the spirit that operates behind these abnormal behaviors. It is a natural tendency for a young person to frown and mock someone who stands out as a “weirdo” unless they have been trained to recognize and understand the spiritual behavior behind it. They must also learn that there are only two kingdoms: the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. We either belong to one or the other.

What are some of the root causes, and what does the Bible teach us about this subject?

In the book of Judges 2:6-10, we see the neglect of a generation that failed to fulfill its responsibility to communicate the Word of God to their children. That brought spiritual, moral and social decadence.

Today we live such a curse, where the church has failed to teach its children the dangers about darkness and how it has bombarded all homes, through platforms such as Netflix and other programs that place an altar of admiration to promiscuity and suicide as a way out of the problems without consequences. These films are full of conjurations and demonic invocations, instilling in youth a contempt for holiness and Christ Jesus. Social networks have become a well-crafted plan to capture the minds of adolescents and young people, breaking and interrupting communication, unity and family time, and becoming the biggest route of mass indoctrination of suicide through the challenges and incitements, where demons with a power of conviction, control and manipulation lead the masses to be dragged into competition, low esteem, anxiety and disappointment by the comments of the so-called “friends” of the networks.

It is time to wake up: “Know this: In the last days perilous times will come” (2 Tim. 3:1).

We are people of faith, but we must also be people who love and have compassion for others who are lost in the kingdom of darkness. We must hate the sin, not the person, and pray earnestly that God will rescue this lost generation from the grips of the enemy. We must pray for a revival of divine intervention. We must dare to proclaim truth to this generation and pray powerful prayers to protect the hearts of our children. {eoa}
