These Are the 2 Biggest Hindrances to Your Prayer Life
Author Tim Cameron says believers encounter two great hindrances to prayer: Being too busy or too worldly to pray effectively.
And this has far-reaching effects. Busyness, Cameron says, “steals our time to pray, and worldliness takes away our will to pray. A person who’s too busy to pray is just too busy to lead a godly life. A person who’s too worldly has given his will to the world.”
Cameron’s book 40 Days Through the Prayers of Jesus (Charisma House, 2017) is a journey to help readers pray more like Christ. As Cameron explains it to “Greenelines” podcast host Dr. Steve Greene, this journey will help believers make better decisions.
The book, a 40-day voyage to intimately understanding the prayers of Jesus, will help believers practically apply Jesus’ prayers to their own lives and grow their relationship with God.
Cameron says he wrote the book after a personal journey of chronic pain and addiction to painkillers almost killed him.
“After all that I went through, I simply dove into the Lord and said, ‘Lord, I need You to reveal to me what it means to pray and how I can see my prayers answered,” says Cameron, who served seven years in administration at Oral Roberts University.
“I really focused on how Jesus prayed and what His prayer life teaches us. I believe there are 23 times when He prayed out loud in the Gospels. He often withdrew to pray. And Jesus’ prayer life was a whole lot more about listening than it was about speaking.”
