Believing Rabbi: ‘God Does Not Love the Jewish People More Than Arabs’
Rabbi Jonathan Bernis wants to make one thing perfectly clear. God, he says, does not love the Jewish people more than he loves the Arab people, nor does he love Israelis more than Palestinians.
“Our access to salvation, to redemption, is a level playing field,” says Bernis, a Jewish believer who serves as president and CEO of Jewish Voice Ministries International.
Bernis explores this idea in depth, as well as Israeli-Palestinian relations and the end times according to God’s plan, in his new book, A Lasting Peace (Charisma House 2019). Bernis says only one thing is key to a lasting peace not only in the Middle East but worldwide.
“When people come into a relationship with the God of Israel though the Messiah of Israel—Jesus, Yeshua, the Savior of the world—everything changes,” says Bernis, who has been in ministry for more than 30 years. “I’ve seen firsthand when Jew and Arab come into relationship with the Messiah, the Savior. There’s true peace; there love; there’s unity. That’s God’s peace plan. It’s not an accord. It’s a person, and His name is Jesus.”
And Jesus, Bernis says, is the only way to combat the rising tide of anti-Semitism that continues to worsen worldwide every day.
“According to the Anti-Defamation League, anti-Semitism is at its highest level since World War II and the Holocaust,” Bernis says. “But God says to the Jewish people, ‘I will preserve you despite the efforts to destroy you. I will preserve you as a nation, and even though you’ve disobeyed Me, I’m faithful to you.’ That comforts me.” {eoa}
