Chandler David Owens, an internationally known Christian leader, passed away at age 79.  Owens served for more than 35 years as a member of the general board of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) and from 1995 to 2000 as presiding bishop of the denomination. Including a period of childhood preaching, Owens’ ministry spanned more than seven decades.

Billy Hornsby, co-founder and president of the Association of Related Churches (ARC), died of cancer at age 61. A church planter who specialized in training leaders around the world, Hornsby helped to develop ARC into one of the country’s largest church-planting organizations and also served as European Coordinator for EQUIP.


Mary Jo Wilson, a 25-year church-multiplication missionary with Asian Access, has been named vice president for the group’s Japan operations. She started on the mission field in 1983, taking a three-year assignment with LIFE Ministries (now Asian Access), and moved to Tokyo in 1994.
