Sign of the Times? Comet Hurtles Toward Earth During Feast of Trumpets

A small comet, 21-P/Giancobini-Zinner, will make its closest approach to Earth during the week of the Feast of Trumpets.

The Hebrew Feast of Trumpets occurs on the first day of the seventh month of the religious year. It is also the first day of the Hebrew secular year and is also known as Rosh Hashanah, meaning “the head of the year”. For the Christians, the feast of trumpets is one of the seven feasts of Israel, with the three spring feasts showing Christ’s coming, the Feast of Pentecost showing the coming of the Church, and the three fall feasts showing Christ’s Second Coming. The Feast of Trumpets is a prophetic representation of the trumpet call of God and the Second Coming of Christ (1 Cor. 15:52 and 1 Thess. 4:16).

Like the Hebrew feasts, the way in the heavens declaring the glory of God (Ps. 19:1-4), which we call the Star Bible, moves from the advent of Christ through the Church Age to the Second Coming of Christ. The portion of the Star Bible corresponding to the Feast of Trumpets is the constellation Taurus (The Bull) which pictures a bull, the ancient symbol of power. In Hebrew, the constellation name means “coming”, and in Egyptian it meant “who saves.” The bright star Aldeberrn, meaning the Governor, adds to this picture of Christ the Savior coming in power to rule. Taurus is the sign of the Second Coming of Christ which will move into summer, the season of the Second Coming, in A.D. 2121. Comet 21 P brings a celestial message that amplifies the prophetic emphasis of the Feast of Trumpets and the constellation Taurus. During the Feast of Trumpets, pointing toward the Second Coming of Christ, the comet will be in the sign of the Second Coming of Christ, Taurus. In fact, the comet will pass over the over the spot where the sign of Christ’s Second Coming will move into the summer season of His Second Coming in A.D. 2121. Like a pointer in the sky, Comet 21P is reminding us to look forward to the return of Jesus.

There is also a message for today as Comet 21 P moves through the heavens. On Sept. 2 and 3 the comet will move to within two degrees of Bright Star Capella (the goat) in the constellation Auriga (the Shepherd) which is associated with Taurus. Auriga tells us that Christ, our good Shepherd (Matt. 25:31-34), will protect us during the chaotic events surrounding the return of Jesus.

Nobody knows the day or the hour when Christ will return and the timing of the signs in the heavens can be moved by even a slight change in the Earth’s wobble. Comet P-21 focuses our attention on what we do know: Christ is coming soon and He will gather His flock.

So look for the comet tonight, using your binoculars because it is barely visible.
