Terror Survivor: America Is Ignoring the Real War on Women
In her book Rise: In Defense of Judeo-Christian Values and Freedoms (Frontline, 2018), activist and New York Times best-selling author Brigitte Gabriel exposes how our nation’s increasing tolerance of radical Islamic ideologies endangers women to an irreversible degree.
In an interview with Charisma magazine, Gabriel draws a correlation between radical Islam and the exploitation of the innocent:
“When you look at the Islamic world, or even the Islamists that are now coming to our Western nation, we are seeing a rise in child marriages. We are seeing a rise in child rape. We are seeing a rise in honor killings. We are seeing a rise in female genital mutilation.”
Rise breaks down how these horrors have made appearances in the Western world. Gabriel cites Zein Isa, a Palestinian Muslim and naturalized United States citizen, who stabbed his daughter to death as a form of ‘honor killing.’ Muslim doctors in Michigan who were arrested for performing female genital mutilation (FGM) on what was suspected to be over 100 girls. Muzzamil “Mo” Hassan of Orchard Park, New York, who beheaded his wife for seeking a divorce. (Hassan was founder of Bridges TV station which, ironically, sought to combat stereotypes, such as Muslims being violent.)
Gabriel stresses how these crimes cannot be ignored, especially by Christians whose values have benefitted women throughout history. While some Christian leaders have distorted Scripture to degrade and subjugate women, many others have brought about massive social and educational reform.
Gabriel references Christian Shi Meiyu who helped end the practice of foot-binding for little girls in China, and also challenged the Chinese Bible translations that were misconstrued to subordinate women. Tsuda Omeko, also a Christian, helped secure Japanese women the right to an education.
Gabriel also provides support for how Judeo-Christian principles have enabled protection and safety for women, notably in Israel where Sharia-abiding nations surround them.
“Sharia prevents [women] from education, justifies domestic abuse against them, values them less than half of a man, and even legitimizes killing them should their male family members decide they have in some way dishonored them,” Gabriel writes. “All women, including Muslim women, enjoy astronomically more freedom and safety in the Jewish nation of Israel than they do in any of the Sharia-abiding neighbors.”
But her book Rise is meant not only to only educate readers on the threat of radical Islamic ideologies and practices. Each chapter concludes with tools for the reader to take action, some of which include:
- Supporting federal legislation that fights against FGM, whether it’s increasing the penalty or ensuring that healthcare providers, school officials and adults report suspected FGM.
- Donating and volunteering at a local women’s shelter.
- Directing survivors of human trafficking who need help to call 1 (888) 373-7888.
- Reporting suspected human trafficking as an anonymous tip at humantraffickinghotline.org/report-trafficking.
Rise teaches readers how to identify behaviors and ideas that could, not just put women at risk, but also threaten the local community and ultimately national security.
Gabriel urges fellow patriots to not turn a blind-eye to the real war on women.
“Western countries living up to their responsibility of protecting the most vulnerable among us should not lose sight of the values and foundational principles that have allowed them to do so…It’s time to hold others accountable for their lack of respect for human life, regardless of age, gender, or race.” {eoa}
