Country Music Star Cancels Shows After Newborn Dies: ‘She’s Safely in Heaven’

Country music star Walker Hayes has announced the death of his newborn daughter. Hayes, who is known for his hit track “You Broke Up With Me” said in a statement that “Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven.”

As Billboard reported, Hayes was nominated for breakthrough video of the year for his video for “You Broke Up With Me” during Wednesday’s CMT Awards and was due to perform at the awards show in Nashville. Due to the tragic death of his daughter, the country musician decided to cancel his upcoming shows and spend time with his family.

The father of six has talked fondly of his children in the past, telling People that they are super-supportive of his increasingly successful music career. {eoa}
