Worship Leader Murdered While Praying at Creflo Dollar’s World Changers Church
New details are emerging from the shooting death at Creflo Dollar’s megachurch. The man who was murdered was World Changers Church’s worship leader.
The 39-year-old man was reportedly shot six times at point-blank range, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The victim has not been publicly named, but was reportedly leading a morning prayer meeting when he was shot. No one else was injured in the shooting. World Changers serves about 30,000 people.
USA Today quotes Fulton County police spokeswoman Cpl. Kay Lester as saying the shooter, a former employee, “walked calmly into the church and left just as calmly” after the act of violence. The suspect’s name is Floyd Palmer, a 52-year-old who worked at the church until August.
“It’s very upsetting when your own member would come and do such a thing,” Marcia Lowe told USA Today. Lowe was late for church because she had to stop at the post office.
The gunman is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. Investigators are still trying to determine the killer’s motive.
“Why would anyone want to hurt the church?” Adolph Hanley, 66, of College Park, Ga., who has attended the church for two years, told The Citizen. “That’s the devil’s work.”
