Robert Jeffress: Joe Biden’s Terrorism Comments ‘Absolutely Ridiculous’

During a recent interview with The Atlantic, Vice President Joe Biden said that while terrorism is certainly a problem for the United States, it’s not an existential threat to the nation.

Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas said those comments were “absolutely ridiculous” during an interview on FOX Business Channel. He said that, whether it was Istanbul in Turkey, Nice in France, San Bernardino, Orlando, or now Virginia, all of the attacks shared one denominator: They were committed by radical Islamists.

“Not one of these terrorists, before he committed these atrocities, shouted out ‘Jesus Christ is great!'” he told Varney & Co. host Stuart Varney. “It’s always ‘Allah is great.’ For Joe Biden and our government to not acknowledge this reality is a dereliction of duty that will lead to further attacks.

“And I want to make this prediction on your program, Stuart: We’re are only one or two more ISIS attacks away from Donald Trump being elected the next President of the United States. People—Americans are sick of this and they want something done about it.”

Varney responded that in a technical sense, Biden’s comments might be right, but said Jeffress was commenting on something “deeper.” He said the pastor was trying to address “what America is, or at least, what it was.”

“Absolutely,” Jeffress said. “And, people need to realize that these attacks are increasing—even in our country—in frequency and intensity. Unless we do something, we are going to be victims of continued radical Islamic terrorism.

“Over the last several months, I’ve gone out and debated a Muslim imam on our sister network (FOX News Channel), and every time I pointed out the truth about radical Islam, he would scream and yell that I was being unfair and that Islam is a religion of peace. Just last week while I was on vacation, I read that this Muslim imam has been arrested because of his connections with ISIS.

“Now look, these terrorists are nothing but murderers and liars. We can never expect them to tell the truth about their religion, but we ought to expect our own government officials to tell us the truth about radical Islamic terrorism.”
