The Tribute in Light is illuminated over the skyline of New York during events marking the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center as a flag flutters in the wind in Bayonne, N.J., Monday. On Sept. 11, 2001, two jets hijacked by Islamist militants brought down the Twin Towers, another extensively damaged the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C., and a fourth crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania when airline passengers revolted against the hijackers. More than 1,000 relatives of those killed and others gathered at ground zero Tuesday for the annual reading of the list of 2,983 people killed at three sites of the terrorist attacks.
