Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn: ISIS Is Here in Startling Numbers
A key member of the Donald Trump presidential campaign is sounding the alarm with regard to ISIS activity in the U.S.
In a wide-ranging interview with the Washington Free Beacon published Tuesday, Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (ret.)—who has been advising Trump’s campaign on matters of national security—called out President Barack Obama and his administration for downplaying the threat to homeland security. Affiliates of ISIS are already residing in the United States, he said, although exact numbers aren’t available due to the administration’s efforts to hide information.
“They are here … The director of the FBI has said it,” he told the Free Beacon. “There are dozens and dozens and dozens, and I think the number I’ve heard is 1,000, but I don’t know the exact numbers. But I do know there are a lot of cases against members inspired or directed by the Islamic State in this country.
“There should be more publicity about what we’ve discovered. We ought to expose it, expose its [ISIS’s] weaknesses, expose its dangers to the American public. We’re a tough crowd. The American public is tough. We can take the truth.”
