Pray31 Calling 1 Million Believers to Intercede for America
Pray31, a new 31-day prayer initiative, is working to enlist 1 million people to pray for America before the 2012 U.S. presidential elections.
Christian Endeavor International (CEI) is launching the virtual prayer rally, which hopes to provoke Christians to pray throughout the month of October. CEI president Tim Eldred envisions thousands of congregations across denominations engaging in a highly focused prayer effort for 31 days.
“Our nation needs so much at this time, but there’s nothing we need more than prayer,” Eldred says. “The solutions we seek are spiritual, not political. Pray31 is a response to the overwhelming weight of the issues facing America. We must call out to God in prayer because only with his empowerment and blessing can we meet these challenges successfully.”
The Pray31 strategy centers on a key resource, the U.S. Prayer Atlas, a booklet that guides the user on a one-month journey of prayer. Eldred calls it an atlas because it covers specific prayer requests for all 50 states and all U.S. territories.
Here’s how it works: When you agree to join Pray31, you commit to spending a few minutes every day praying for items on the daily lists in the atlas. Eldred is believing this consistent, coast-to-coast prayer will bring God’s intervention.
