ICYMI: Donald Trump Dominates the Sunday Shows

Share:

Even though he’s opened his wallet and started paying for campaign advertising, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is still gaining earned media from all of the Sunday talk shows. All four programs featured the national front-runner in some form or fashion.

Don’t worry if you missed it, though. We’ve got it all right here.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos

ABC’s Sunday morning talker featured an exclusive first look at an Iowa focus group hosted by Frank Luntz and Google, as well as one-on-one interviews with U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.). Stephanopoulos also briefly interviewed White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). The roundtable featuring ABC political analyst Matthew Dowd, TV talk show host Tavis Smiley, talk radio host Hugh Hewitt, and Democrat strategist Donna Brazile discussed Donald Trump’s “birther” attacks on Ted Cruz.

CBS’s Face the Nation

CBS’s Sunday morning politics program featured interviews with Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). The roundtable featuring Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal, Jamelle Bouie of Slate magazine, Susan Page of USA Today, and the Washington Post‘s Ed O’Keefe discussed the run-up to the 2016 presidential election in light of Donald Trump.

NBC’s Meet the Press

NBC’s signature Sunday morning program, opened with a lengthy one-on-one interview with Donald Trump. The roundtable featuring Jeff Greenfield of Politico and The Daily Beast, Helene Cooper of the New York Times, Jennifer Jacobs of The Des Moines Register, and Robert Costa of The Washington Post discussed the GOP establishment’s quandary over alternatives to Trump and Ted Cruz.

FOX News Sunday With Chris Wallace

FOX’s Sunday program featured interviews with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump discussing the latest news from his campaign and White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough previewing this week’s State of the Union Address. The roundtable featuring talk radio host Laura Ingraham, Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward, syndicated columnist George Will, and FOX News political analyst Juan Williams discussed last week’s North Korean nuclear test.
