Does America Have ‘Schizophrenia’ Toward God?

Pointing out a politically correct irony in today’s society, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Sunday said America is “schizophrenic” toward God.

Carson made the comments during a speech at Cornerstone Family Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

“If it’s in our founding document, it’s in our pledge, it’s in our courts and it’s on our money, but we’re not supposed to talk about it, what in the world is that? That is what is called schizophrenia,” Carson said.

Carson has made similar remarks recently, noting public expressions about God are increasingly limited in today’s culture.

Last month, both Carson and Donald Trump said “political correctness” is one of the primary dangers facing the United States, along with the Islamic State, terrorism, ballooning levels of debt and escalating tensions with Russia.

Carson said the left uses political correctness “frighten people and get people to shut up. You know, that’s what the P.C. culture is all about, and it’s destroying this nation.”

After his speech on Sunday, five of six church members interviewed said they would consider voting for him.

“After today I think I’m going to do some further research,” said Jamie Allen, a graduate student studying mental health counseling at Drake University. “I’m sold on the fact that he knows God. That’s important to me.”
