Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) are still working toward peace.

Attorney Isaac Molho, the special envoy of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, met on Saturday evening in Ramallah with Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the PA. Molho delivered a letter from Netanyahu.

Netanyahu was responding to a letter from Abbas. In the letter, the PA president demanded that Israel stop building in Jerusalem and the surrounding communities in the West Bank as a condition to resuming peace talks.

Abbas also demanded that Israel revert to its pre-1967 borders and release all Palestinian Arab captives from Israeli prisons.

“Israel and the Palestinian Authority are committed to achieving peace and the sides hope that the exchange of letters between President Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu will further this goal,” read a joint statement issued on Saturday.

Israel seems committed to continuing the peace process.

“The special envoy of Prime Minister Netanyahu met in Ramallah with Palestinian President Abbas and gave him a letter from the prime minister. We hope that this exchange of letters between the two leaders will further the peace process. That’s our sincere hope,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
