Must-See Videos: Two Congresswomen’s Emotional Speeches on the Planned Parenthood Scandal
Elected officials continue to react to the latest Planned Parenthood scandal. A video released Tuesday morning shows one of its national leaders casually discussing how the abortion chain performs partial birth abortions to harvest and sell fetal organs. Discussing this on the House floor, Rep. Martha Roby, R-AL, got emotional: Her remarks in full said:
Mr. Speaker, I rise to raise awareness about a disturbing development. Today, video surfaced of Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director for medical services, admitting – in fact bragging – about the harvesting and trafficking of fetal organs after abortions. To those who haven’t seen the video, I encourage you to watch. But be forewarned: The casual, callous way she details how babies can be killed in such a way that their tiny hearts, lungs, and livers can be taken and sold for profit is simply horrifying. To quote Doctor Nucatola, “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver… so I’m not gonna crush that part. I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.” It is honestly hard to believe a human being could bring themselves to believe this is OK. Of course, this is completely illegal, but that apparently isn’t stopping Planned Parenthood. Mr. Speaker, we have long fought to prohibit federal funding to Planned Parenthood, and we will continue to. But this admission of barbaric behavior warrants a closer inspection of this organization. This is one of those moments that – as a nation and as a people – we have to ask ourselves, “Who are we? Are we really going to tolerate this inhumanity? Are we going to look the other way while babies are brutally killed and organs harvested for profit?” These aren’t specimens! These are babies for God’s sake! I may only have one minute today, but I promise we are not finished talking about this. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Her colleague, Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, gave an equally spirited speech on Wednesday: Foxx said in full:
Mr. Speaker, yesterday a disturbing video surfaced of Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, discussing the sale of fetal organs from aborted as she casually eats lunch. The heartless way that Dr. Nucatola describes how Planned Parenthood clinics kill innocent children and then harvest their precious hearts, lungs, and livers to sell is sickening. In 2014 alone, Planned Parenthood was directly responsible for killing over 350,000 unborn babies in their clinics. It is unconscionable and inexcusable that we’re giving the hard earned money of American taxpayers to an organization that callously kills an unborn child about every 90 seconds. At its core Planned Parenthood supports the systematic extermination of the most vulnerable among us. It is past time to end federal funding of this organization which views the life of the unborn as a revenue generator.
Rep. Foxx is no stranger to the emotions the abortion debate enflames. The Congresswoman choked back tears during an emotional debate on the 20-week abortion ban in 2013. Congress should end funding of Planned Parenthood — and end abortion, as well. Enough women have cried because of Planned Parenthood.
