Tithing is a biblical mandate, but are church members on the hook for a set amount of donations each year?

According to a Florida church, the answer is yes. The Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church allegedly sent a letter to member Candace Petterson that told her she was delinquent in her financial support, according to a local TV station.

“To be a member in good standing and have the right to vote, adults are to contribute the minimum amount of $50 per month,” Petterson said the letter read.
