19-Year-Old Lauren Hill Glorifies Jesus Despite Losing Brain Cancer Battle
When Lauren Hill received her terminal diagnosis, she knew it was her time to shine, and she begged the Lord to use her.
Hill died this week, but not before spreading Christ’s compassion and encouragement to others who were in similar situations.
“I was desperate and I asked God that… I didn’t want to be another local story that disappeared and I just became another statistic on paper,” she told Cincinnati’s WKRC when first diagnosed. “I prayed that God would keep me there. And if he kept me, I would do anything that I could to be the voice for little kids.”
Hill had a life-long dream to play college basketball. After she received her terminal diagnosis, the NCAA granted permission for her college to move up it’s schedule so she could achieve her vision.
Her ultimate goal was to find a cure for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, the type of tumor she had.
“And even though I’m probably not going to be around to see it, it’s going to help a lot of people,” Hill told USA Today of the cure research. “And that’s why we need to keep staying with this and not end it with this game, and keep supporting research.”
Hill’s valiant life touched many, and responses to her death are flooding Twitter.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence tweeted, “Lauren Hill‘s spirit, courage will live on always. Praying for her family & all who loved this exceptional Hoosier”.
Fox Commentator Greta Van Susteran praised all Hill did in her short life, especially her efforts to raise money for cancer research.
