‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Re-Enactment Leads to Aggravated Sexual Assault Charges
A college student charged with sexual assault was reportedly trying to re-enact scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey.
Prosecutors say University of Illinois freshman Mohammad Hossain invited a former intimate partner over to his dorm.
Once she arrived, he “bound the female’s hands and legs, covered her mouth with a necktie and repeatedly hit her with a belt. Authorities said Houssain then began punching the victim and sexually assaulted her, ignoring her cries asking him to stop,” according to USA Today.
Hossain was reportedly a leader on the campus, part of the student ambassadors to alumni and the triathlon team.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. was horrified when he found this out, asking public defender Sandra Bennewitz, “Sandra, how can someone involved in all that let a movie persuade him to do something like this?”
The victim contacted police as soon as she was released from Hossain’s dorm room.
When Hossain was arrested, State Attorney Sarah Karr says Hossain admitted to the assault and “doing something wrong.” He reportedly told police he and the woman were re-enacting scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey.
