Intercessors Cry Out For Hollywood

Prayer warriors are targeting one of the most monumental of society’s “seven mountains” as they invade Hollywood this month with a spirit of love and blessing in the name of Jesus.

TheCRY Hollywood is calling the Bible-believing world to Los Angeles for a day of prayer and fasting in hopes of releasing a move of God in the arts and entertainment industry. On March 15, intercessors will descend on Universal Studios and offer unified prayer for a change in the spiritual realm.

“There’s no sphere in society that’s impacting our generation like entertainment media. If we’re going to touch the heart of a generation, we have to touch the entertainment industry,” says Faytene Grassechi, founder of TheCRY, which may be best described as the Canadian version of Lou Engle’s TheCall. “We are gathering for targeted prayer to shift the spiritual atmosphere in Hollywood’s entertainment industry.”

Although this is TheCRY’s U.S. debut, Grassechi is no stranger to the growing prayer movement. She has organized eight mass intercession gatherings in Canada. Based on her experiences there, Grassechi is full of faith to impact one of the seven mountains that influence international culture. In Canada, for example, she’s witnessed the advancement of morally based legislation in the parliament, a statistical decline in youth drug abuse and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in churches—all in answer to the cry for God’s blessing in the land.

Jonathan Ngai, lead minister at Radiance International, a 24/7 worship and prayer movement in Hollywood, is working with Grassechi to mobilize intercessors in the world’s entertainment capital. He believes the eyes of the Lord are on Hollywood even now. It’s difficult to disagree, considering he launched the Hollywood House of Prayer last July and built up nonstop worship and intercession by Sept. 11. Ngai and his team have seemingly plowed the way for TheCRY Hollywood.

“TheCRY Hollywood is going to be a day of breakthrough,” Ngai says. “We want to bless the redemptive gift in this city, believing that as we speak words of blessing that kingdom music and kingdom movies will be released.”

“Bless” is the running theme. TheCRY Hollywood is coming to Los Angeles carrying blessing and honor, not curses and criticism. Grassechi believes in loosing life, love and God’s glory through prayers for the industry and the so-called City of Angels rather than pointing a disapproving, religious finger at the unholy productions there.

“We believe God has a dream for Hollywood,” Grassechi says. “We’re not coming to bless the porn industry, but to release God’s purpose and destiny for the entertainment media industry. We’re going to fervently pray for the good and believe the bad has to go.”

Grassechi expects thousands of Christians to gather in Hollywood for the prayer event, which will also feature worship—something Brandee, a dancer for the Black Eyed Peas, is especially passionate about. Brandee sees firsthand what goes on behind the scenes, and she’s excited about TheCRY Hollywood’s pure intercessory agenda.

“Any time you pray with your heart in the right place, God moves,” says Brandee, who attends One Church International in Hollywood. “I can’t wait to see the impact of this event. There is already something in the air here. You can feel that change is coming and I believe TheCRY Hollywood will be a huge catalyst for positive change.”
