Rickey Wagoner

Man Who Says Bible Saved His Life From Gunshots Lied, According to Evidence

In February, Charisma News reported the story of an innocent Ohio bus driver whose life was saved when two bullets fired at his chest were stopped by a pocket-sized New Testament.

But police investigators now say it didn’t happen.

Rickey Wagoner, 49, claimed that two armed teenage assailants fought him when he stopped his bus and checked outside after hearing a mechanical noise. Wagoner alleged that his copy of The Message stopped the thugs’ two bullets before he escaped with his life and a stab wound to the arm.

Yet several factors are now leading authorities to question Wagoner’s truthfulness. Ballistics tests now show that in no way could the book have stopped those rounds. Only Wagoner’s DNA was found at the scene, according to the Daily Mail. And Wagoner wasn’t at all out of breath on his 911 call, in spite of his claim that he had physically fought his attackers and run for his life immediately beforehand.

Wagoner refused to comment when local reporters appeared at his home.
