Liquid Church Organizes International Virtual Choir
Coming from the same church that brought you the $30,000 “reverse offering,” Liquid Church of New Jersey is looking to make a joyful noise far beyond its territory with a Christmas Virtual Choir.
From soldiers in the Middle East to moms in Estonia to students in Phoenix and beyond, Liquid Church is hoping to make an international splash by assembling a virtual choir in time for Christmas Eve services. The church is inviting people from the four corners of the earth to unite to sing “Silent Night” via webcams and YouTube.
“We’re creating a unique experience for singers across the globe to come together as one voice this Christmas,” says Tim Lucas, lead pastor of the Liquid Church. The church has about 2,000 weekly attendees, but also attracts thousands of visitors to its online church campus.
Here’s how it works: Liquid Church will distribute sheet music, music tracks and a video-recorded conductor so people can record and upload their singing part to YouTube. Liquid Church’s media team will then assemble a composite video production that integrates all of the individual singers into one large-scale synchronized video rendering for the Christmas Virtual Choir event.
The Christmas Virtual Choir’s performance will be held at six live Christmas Eve services in New Jersey on December 24 at Liquid Church. If you want to be part of the virtual choir, the deadline to upload your video is Dec. 15. Instructions are available at www.lqd.ch/xmasvideo.
