Is This the Death of a Nation or the Resurrection of It?

It would be easy to be discouraged if we only went by what we see in the natural. This past week we saw the appointment of an activist, liberal judge to the Supreme Court whose record has advocated on the side of criminals, perversion and unrighteousness.

The California Assembly legalized infanticide and took another step forward as all six of the committee’s ruling Democrats voted in favor of AB 2223, which would allow the killing of babies up to six weeks after birth. This bill now heads to the Assembly Health Committee, and if it passes, then proceeds to the full California Assembly for a vote to legalize murder outside the womb even as they continue to murder babies inside the womb.

Elections this past week in my red state of Oklahoma were discouraging. Even though numerous godly conservatives rose up to run for school board positions to remove the evil of transgenderism and racist brainwashing of critical race theory in public schools, most were defeated, despite Oklahoma being known as a red state. All of that seems to be changing.

I’m sure you are watching similar things happen in your city and state as well. It can cause us to ask, “God, where are You?” It feels as if the American flag should be at half-mast as we witness these horrific actions and the slow death of freedom and liberty. But God.

It is important to remember that with God, timing is everything. It is no coincidence that we are in the week of reflection of the Lord’s betrayal, the Passover and the Resurrection of Christ. This season is a time of freedom from slavery. I believe now as then, the timing of all that is taking place is no coincidence. While it appears evil has triumphed, we know what is coming.

May we not forget the witness of history in this season:

— Moses and the children of Israel were freed from the enslavement of the evil Pharaoh.

— Esther and the Jews were delivered from the evil mandate meant to slaughter them. Instead, what was intended to remove them, God turned, removed their enemies and then put them in power.

We are now in the week of Passover in which they tried to silence Jesus and kill Him. But Satan’s plan was defeated. The evil actions meant to destroy became the very act that unleashed freedom and destroyed the bondage to sin, slavery and destruction.

In each case, while it appeared evil had the upper hand and Satan would prevail, the tables were turned, and God set His people free.

And so, friends, this week we approach His throne room of grace with confidence to find mercy and grace to help in time of need. I believe God will do it again because He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has shown us who He is. And as they did then, we do now as we continue to cry out to Him with fasting and prayer for deliverance.

How did the disciples, Jesus’ mother, Mary, Mary Magdalene and Jesus’ many followers feel as they watched His death? What about those three agonizing days as He lay in the tomb and it appeared evil triumphed? They didn’t know what was on the other side. Perhaps you feel now as they did. Take courage, for Resurrection day is coming and is even at hand.

Are we watching the death of our nation? Or are we on the verge of a resurrection and a God-intervention? Timing is everything.
