Emergency Help Reaches Ukraine, but Needs Persist

A historic, U.S.-based Christian emergency team has arrived safely in Lviv, Ukraine, with medical and emergency supplies to assist with the nearly 2.8 million Ukrainians who have streamed toward the border. Christian ministry Widows & Orphans, along with numerous relief agencies arriving from countries worldwide, is in urgent need of help as the organization ministers to the thousands of displaced refugees.

“We are here to bring in emergency supplies and to help with our expertise on emergency assistance” says Widows and Orphans Director Pastor William Devlin, speaking live from Lviv, where he and his team have been providing humanitarian relief. Known as “Dr. Reckless” for his decades of going on-site to disasters, war zones and other emergencies, he has been to areas from Iraq to Cuba to Sudan and many in between, sharing the love of the Lord Jesus Christ in practical and needed ways.

“God calls us to be His hands and feet and when there is human need; regardless of the consequences, we are to be his body on-site,” he says. “Please help us as we assist those streaming out of Ukraine with the most urgent needs for medical supplies, canned and instant food, sleeping bags and so much more.”

The current crisis in Ukraine is the largest European war and refugee situation since World War II and is particularly noteworthy for the speed with which such a large number of people have moved across borders, overwhelming relief agencies and local governments doing their best to help.

Most urgently needed are canned and instant food, sleeping bags, towels, donated airline miles for team members, used iPhones, tents, vitamins and medical supplies.

Bestselling author of God and Cancel Culture Stephen Strang writes in God, Trump and the 2020 Election, “Remember, all they respect is strength, not weakness,” reflecting the Scripture, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2) as believers worldwide join together to assist with the human catastrophe of the largest post-war refugee situation, with a worldwide network of 140,000 American missionaries teaming up with networks of churches throughout Europe and locally in Ukraine. {eoa}
