Defeating the Demon of Debt With Supernatural Warfare Strategies

When my husband abandoned the family, he left us with mountains of debt. Yes, mountains. There was credit card debt, IRS debt, student loan debt. Debt, debt and more debt.

I couldn’t get a credit card. I couldn’t get a car loan. I couldn’t buy a house. I was in bondage to a Babylonian economic system that had me spinning my wheels and running in circles. The future looked grim.

Thanks be to God, He delivered me from financial bondage. Today I own four properties and am 100% debt-free. I do not serve Mammon; Mammon serves me. The credit card companies and banks pay me. As Dave Ramsey always said, becoming debt-free is the fastest way to obtain wealth.

Are You Drowning in Debt?

God wants you out of debt! Romans 13:8a says plainly, “Owe no one anything, except to love one another.” But most people in America and around the world are in extreme debt. For example, the average debt level in America is $92,727, according to Bank Rate. In total, American consumers owe $14.2 trillion in debt.

Debt can be dangerous. Debt requires you to transfer your future to your creditors. Debt eliminates your options in life. Debt costs money. Debt encourages you to spend more than you can afford. Debt is borrowing from your future income.

High interest rate debt causes you to pay more than the item costs. Debt keeps you from accomplishing your financial goals. Debt can keep you from owning a home. Debt can lead to stress and serious medical problems. Debt can hurt your marriage. Debt hurts your credit score.

But why is debt a problem from a biblical perspective? Proverbs 22:7 tells us, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” And Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. you cannot serve God and money.”

Breaking the Bondage of Debt

I believe in supernatural debt cancellation because I’ve seen it manifest in my life. God delivered me from this bondage and helped me tap into the Deuteronomy 8:18 promise: “But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers.”

Jubilee is an Old Testament concept. If you lost your land, home or family inheritance, you could look forward to the Jubilee that came around every 50 years. In the Jubilee, you got back everything you lost. The land was restored to the people and the people to the land.

Leviticus 25:9-10 reads, ” Then you shall sound the horn blasts on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall make the sound of the horn throughout all your land. You shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all the inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee to you, and each of you shall return to his possession, and every person shall return to his family.”

Jesus Is Our Jubilee

Jesus is our Jubilee. In Luke 4:18-19 (AMPC), Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed one, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.]”

Although the Jubilee was every 50 years—seven cycles of seven and a rest for the land on the 50th year—Jesus is essentially saying, “I am your Jubilee.”

When you enter Jubilee, you are in a place of resting from your labors. God redeems what was lost. A harvest comes in that sustains you so there’s no more striving. Of course, you can’t reap from a field in which you’ve never sown. You can’t eat from the abundance of provision that you haven’t stored up.

I got out of debt by working hard, praying hard, sowing hard and believing hard. Some of my supernatural debt cancellation came through divine strategies.
