‘Lawlessness Will Abound’; When Will the Church Wake Up?

Amid our attempts to reconcile the chaos erupting in America, it’s hard to believe anyone is satisfied with the sentencing of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill “handed down the [22 1/2-year] sentence due to the “particular cruelty” Chauvin exhibited during Floyd’s death.”

If this were a legitimate hate crime—one proven beyond doubt George Floyd was intentionally murdered for the color of his skin, while living in a systemically racist society—then 22 1/2 years, with a chance of parole after 3/4 time served, is not enough.

On the other hand, if this were a case of gross negligence and potential involuntary manslaughter—as leftist media and corrupt politicians inflame the narrative, enabling violent activists to destroy a city and post-trial testimonials exposed at least one tainted juror—then, some would say the outcome is unjustified.

While Minneapolis attempts to cauterize its wounds, domestic terrorism continues under the incompetent leadership of Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, D-Ore. Rather than implement plans to quell the violence and restore order, Wheeler is fulfilling the leftist agenda of making his city more “equitable.”

“Police officers in Portland have been told to stand down when it comes to low-level classified traffic infractions … unless officers have determined a threat,” The Federalist reports. “When an officer pulls over a civilian, the policeman is now required to capture a video of consent prior to searching the vehicle, and the person may refuse.”

“Portland emerged as one of the first cities nationwide to defund the police, slashing the budget by $16 million in June 2020,” the article continues. “Riots ravaged Portland for 100 days straight, as Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists took to the streets.”

“These traffic stops often lead to stopping larger crimes,” Draper said, per The Federalist. “Over the weekend, Oregon State Police made a traffic stop and found nearly 60 pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl—which are poisoning our communities. Democrats will stop at nothing to dismantle the police and render them completely ineffective at keeping Oregonians safe. They deserve better.”

“These changes constitute significant progress in our work to reimagine our public safety system for the better and to continue operationalizing our city core values of anti-racism, communication, collaboration, equity, transparency, and fiscal responsibility,” Wheeler explained in a video conference reported by Fox News. “The goal of these changes is to make our [city] safer and more equitable.”

The apostle Paul informed Timothy, “In the last days, perilous times will come. Men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, slanderers, unrestrained, fierce, despisers of those who are good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Turn away from such people” (2 Tim. 3:1-5).

We don’t have to reimagine a reality where justice is perverted and those who do wrong get away with their crimes. Paul’s letter is personified in American culture. Yet there remains a deafening silence from many corners of Christendom.

A remnant of pastors and prophets have used sermons and platforms to sound an alarm. Some are now defamed among believers and critics for presently unfulfilled Trump prophecies. Still, several mainstream Christian leaders have yet to make substantial public statements concerning America’s decline.

To date, we’ve experienced a pandemic, race riots, a questionable election, crimes against humanity at the southern border, continued murder and dismemberment inside abortion clinics, as well as attacks against the nation of Israel.

What event is the church waiting on to rise up in unity and begin breaking territorial strongholds? Has the Lord not found anyone He can equip with an Acts 16:16-40 anointing? {eoa}
