Former Sports Reporter: Faith Is the Answer to the Fear Destroying America

Share:

Former American sports journalist Jason Whitlock believes Americans have the capacity to be abolitionists of fear. And that’s why he returned to the reporting world to start “Fearless”: a platform that will showcase his podcast of the same name, and eventually, a writing vertical.

In an op-ed published on The Blaze, Whitlock wrote, “On the surface, Fearless will look a little different from the rest of the Blaze Media family. But our love of country will be just as strong, our appreciation for this nation’s founding documents just as sincere, and our search for liberating truths just as intense.”

To bolster the Fearless announcement, the op-ed focused on the ways in which fear has embedded itself into everyday life of Americans—most notable in social media, the recent unraveling of racial climate and cancel culture.

But Jesus.

“He’s been canceled, crucified by a toxic secular culture that bullies His believers with threats to expose their sins,” Whitlock said.

He continued with references to his sinful past and the mistakes he made along his secular career with Kansas City Star, AOL Sports Foxsports.com, ESPN and OutKick.com.

Through this, he came to realize, “I’m someone who knows that in order for me to make better decisions—in all aspects of my life—I need Jesus.”

He continued, “My testimony is amazing. It’s further evidence of the power of faith and the availability of the American dream.”

On how the American dream is alive despite efforts to manipulate and disregard its value, Whitlock said the 400-year African American journey is “proof the American dream is real and attainable.”

“Black Americans’ fight for freedom made the United States live up to the ideals espoused in the Declaration of Independence—the equality of man and unalienable rights bestowed by our Creator. Our relentless pursuit of freedom was the iron that sharpened American iron,” he said.

By crippling belief in the “rags-to-riches American dream” and the “conviction that America is a force for good,” enemies of the American dream work to destroy America.

This, Whitlock believes, is best seen in the way racial conflict has abounded, erecting a “smokescreen” that seeks to “cancel Jesus.”

And unfortunately, it’s working, he pointed out.

“We’re losing the faux race war and surrendering the freedoms that made America the envy of the world.”

There is a direct reason for why this is happening.

“We’re losing because we’ve sidelined our best soldier—Jesus,” Whitlock said.

To ensure we take Jesus off the sidelines, Whitlock says we must eradicate the fear of speaking out lest our sins be exposed.

“Your sin does not nullify your Christianity. It justifies it. Let go of that fear,” he wrote. “Your sins, no matter what they are, do not prohibit you from speaking truth, standing on biblical principles and being heard.”

“Our sin silences us. Not anymore. Not if I can help it,” Whitlock concluded.

Whitlock will accomplish the mission of Fearless by “critiquing, lampooning and probing the events shaping conversations around sports, race and popular culture,” and he invites you to join. {eoa}
